Will an accent wall make my room feel smaller?

Dark colors absorb more light, so a dark wall can make a room feel cozier, and paler colors keep it open. The light reflectance value on a paint maker’s color page shows how much light a color reflects.

Which wall should be the accent wall?

Usually the one you see first when you walk in, or the one behind the main piece of furniture: the bed, the desk or the sofa. Walls broken up by several doors or windows are harder to make work.

Can I paint over paneling later?

Painted trim and panels can be repainted, which is part of why picture-frame molding and painted flutes stay popular.

Do you cover my town?

Pattern & Plane writes about homes across the area, from Wellen Park and Nokomis to the Keys and South Sarasota, but Trim My Crib works around Venice, not everywhere on that list. Ask whether your home is in the area.
